It provides the only possible means of transportation to provide health care to many remote communities, and it is a fast and reliable way to deliver urgent humanitarian aid during emergencies caused by natural disasters, famine and war. There are educational opportunities available for students around the world, especially for those from developing countries who must travel abroad for greater quality education. Aviation also helps improve the quality of life by broadening travellers’ leisure and cultural experiences. It is an affordable means to visit distant friends and relatives and fosters knowledge of other cultures.
A major reason for the growth of passenger traffic has been a steady decrease in the real cost of air travel — over 60 per cent reduction since 1970. In 2016, LCCs carried an estimated 1.1 billion passengers, which was approximately 29 per cent of the world total scheduled passengers. This indicated a 10.5 per cent growth when compared to the number of passengers carried by LCCs in 2015, one and a half times the rate of the world totals 16 average passenger growth.Aviation is a customer- focused economic sector. The air connectivity can be referred to as the ability of a network to move passengers, cargo and mail involving the minimum distance, which makes the trip as short as possible with maximum satisfaction at the minimum price possible. Well, connectivity of air services is at the heart of social and economic development. Most of the states have understood the vital role of air connectivity for their economies and have included aviation projects as a priority in their development strategies.
